The Istituto Professionale di Stato per i Servizi Enogastronomici e dell’Ospitalità Alberghiera (I.P.S.S.E.O.A) “Karol Wojtyla” has always been involved in visits and exchanges with many different countries in order to promote the study of foreign languages and contact with different cultures, traditions, customs, and even new technological approaches in teaching and learning.
The new challenging Erasmus+ project, entitled Spielend Neues Lernen, aims to exchange information and good practices in teaching foreign languages, German and English or any other foreign language, using online games and quizzes.
Five schools are involved in the project; besides I.P.S.S.E.O.A. Karol Wojtyla, the other four schools are:
Ramazan Atil Anadolu Lisesi – Adana, Turkey
Zakladna skola, Wolkerova v Bardejove Slovakia
12th Gymnasium Acharnon – Acharnes, Greece
Zespół Szkół w Wieleniu, Poland
The first transnational meeting has taken place in Adana, Turkey on November 6-10, 2017.
During the meeting, the teachers representing the different schools have given information about their schools and they have attended a training course on the use of technology in teaching foreign languages to develop materials to use in teaching German and English to the students involved in the project.
The teachers from Greece, Stavrula Valkanou and Eftichia Chroni; Italy, Anna Chiarenza and Misael Mongiovì; Poland, Agnieszka Chabzda and Izabela Chmurak; Slovakia, Soňa Sosenková and Janka Roháľová, have been warmingly welcomed by the Head-teacher Hikmet Okur, Sebla Döner, teacher of German and coordinator of the project, Sebhattin Güven, teacher of English, and all the staff and students of the Ramazan Atil Anadolu Lisesi in Adana.
Just from the beginning the foreign teachers and the Turkish students had to p
lay a game divided into teams. It was a nice way to get to know the students and the school.
The meeting was not only characterized by meetings and training but we also had the opportunity to visit Adana and its market as well as Cappadocia and the breath-taking Fairy Chimneys. The food was always delicious!
We left Adana feeling that we had met new friends but aware that we were going to meet again in Catania in April.
